I have spent my career as a lifelong educator, teaching students from preschool through university. Simply, I have spent my life in service and as an advocate for those often without a voice.
On May 1, 2023, my life changed forever. It was on this day that I discovered that my mother, Alice Longenberger, and 16 others were victims of horrific elder abuse at a personal care facility in Lewisburg, PA. As time went by, I discovered that this population has little to no protection under current laws. There is little accountability legally, as abusers can move from facility to facility due to the lack of a registry to track these perpetrators. Also, after over 30 counts of abuse were established, all were considered misdemeanors under current laws. It was then that I decided to do as my parents taught me. When you see a wrong, you do what you can to correct it. This is how Journey to Justice was born! It is my mission to continue advocating for those without a voice and to live a life of service in my mother’s honor.
